Interlibrary Loan & Zip Books

Zip Books LogoIf you want an item that isn’t available at your local branch, there are two options for seeing if it’s available elsewhere. You can also submit a purchase request to the library.

Zip Books

If the book you want isn't owned by the Lake County Library, the fastest option is the Zip Books program. Zip Books requests can be placed for books, large print books, and books on CD.  Zip Books are shipped to you from Amazon at no charge to you. The funding for Zip Books comes from the California State Library. The book is checked out to you, and once you read the book and return it to the library, it becomes part of the collection for others to enjoy.

Interlibrary Loan

Request books and other items from a library outside of the shared Sonoma-Lake-Mendocino catalog with an interlibrary loan request. Items that can be requested through interlibrary loans include books, large-print books, audiobooks, CDs, DVDs, and videocassettes. Allow five weeks to receive your item. There is a $3.00 postage fee for fulfilled interlibrary loan requests.

You can also submit a Purchase Suggestion for something you think the library should own.
